Some semblance of normalcy finally settling in down here in NOLA. The trick: finally plugging the tv in your rental house in, and finding the house has free basic cable. Watching reruns of Friends. Ordering a pizza from a local place that’s just recently started delivery again. Sitting in my pjs after a long day out in the world. It’s all coming together.Â
Limits to the normalcy: a tornado watch in effect (my eyes are puffy and red behind my glasses, in part because of the sand and grit kicked up in the wind today), using a bike as my primary means of transporation (said grit just recently washed off my face and neck after struggling thru the wind on my bike today), and waiting for water to boil on the stove because I’m out of bottled water, and I can smell the metals in the water when it comes out of the faucet.Â
I have gotten some sun, riding around, the space on my arms b/w my elbows and where my short sleeves began got burnt yesterday, and this has been an exhausting week of politicking and high anxiety as we all prep for the funder’s arrival. I am looking forward to getting out of here on sat and getting home, though I keep thinking this 75 deg weather is also happening up north. Dare to dream. Â
I miss you all; just wanted to check in and keep you posted on my progress down here. Wish you were here in my recently-re-arranged-to-accommodate-the-tv living room, sharing the pizza that’s arriving imminently.
